The Top 3 Framed Print Trends for 2024

It's been some time since I looked at what's trending in the world of framed prints and in particular how it applies to our online photo printing and framing service. So for 2024, I'm taking another look at what trends we're seeing and updating this article. Let's dive in. 

These days we’re doing as many framed prints as canvas prints on the site.  I don’t really think that’s a huge surprise to be honest - framed prints have always been super popular and offer a timelessly classic finish to any wall. 

Sure, canvas prints can be a little more durable, need a little less care and offer more flexibility for bigger sizes, but framed prints can add a finishing touch of style and glamour that canvas can’t match. 

For 2024, here are my thoughts on what's new and what's changing for printing and framing your photos, 

1. Multi Aperture Framed Prints - A New Way to Make a Framed Collage in 2024

When I originally looked at this subject, we didn't offer a framed print that could display multiple photos in individual windows or apertures.  With our new site launch last year, this changed and I'm so glad we offered this new product because customers really like a framed print that works like a collage but displays each photo in its own mount. Thse type of multi apereture framed prints are very timeless, simple and elegrant.  They are particularly suited to smaller collections of photos - we offer these framed prints for two, three or four photos and have had a great response so far. 

2. Gallery Walls - Still Trending in 2024

Increasingly, customers aren’t just shopping for one or two framed prints.  They want to create a feature gallery wall.  This could be a mismatch of shapes and sizes or for a sleek contemporary look, it can be a series of the same size and shape hung together.  Look out for Gallery walls combined with on-trend paint colours to create a real wow-factor.

3. Adding Text to a Photo in a Framed Print - Caption Prints

The last time I wrote about trends in framed prnits, I spoke about the trend for smaller prints as a response to increased gifting during lockdown.  That's completely changed in 2024. Customers have returned to looking for statement framed prints which tend to be larger sizes to go over a sofa or a bed where an impact is needed.  However, since we launched our caption prints we've seen a definite trend in this direction. In particular we've noticed this trend for framed prits that are intended to be gifted - often for newborn babies, or for anniversaries where dates are so important to the memory a framed print evokes.
